Project Time

We moved into our house one week before I had Jamie. And my goal was to have every box unpacked before she was born...and I did (except for the office books cause our bookshelf had died in the move and we didn't have time to pick out a new one so I kept the books in the boxes). Bryan and I would lay in bed and talk about things we wanted to do to the house when we finally got around to doing something. We loved our house the second we saw it and knew there weren't a ton of changes or things we needed to do to it. Most of it deals with crafty things we wanted to add...personalization. We finally got around to doing a few things...so this is what we've been spending our time doing!

This was my first goodwill find. I saw this chaise and told Bryan I wanted it. I wish I would have taken a before picture...but trust me, it was nasty! Bryan wouldn't even sit on it at goodwill. But he said I could have it, I ran to the fabric store and bought some fabric and took it all to my parents house where my sister and brother-in-law helped us (basically did it) recover it! And I LOVE IT!!!

I found a pair of wooden end tables on craigslist and asked Bryan to pick them on his way home one day. They didn't look like much and Bryan didn't think they were worth the $15 the lady was asking for them. I sanded them down and painted them this light blue. They are perfect in the living room!

They are very similar, but different and I love that they aren't matchy-matchy! Perfect tables for my living room!

I've been wanting to paint our living room brown and finally found the right brown...it's called "fudge" and it looked good enough to eat while we were painting! We only painted two walls and the inside of a nook (you'll see that in a minute). I love how much character it instantly brought into our living room. It's not too dark and provided a richness that I love!

Here's the other wall...

And here's the nook...

For our playroom, we found another little treasure at goodwill, a black shelving unit, that I could put some of his toys on. We have so many toys!! I love how many we have and I hate it all at the same time.

I have visions of more cute vinyl sayings going by these pictures...must call Cathy! But I love these baby pictures of my babies!!

This is my ultimate goodwill find!!!! This piano was $89!!! And it's in wonderful condition! Bryan didn't think it was a good find, so we left goodwill, went and got my mom, and took her to see it. She told Bryan if he didn't buy it, she was! It has a great sound and is in amazing condition. I had visions of painting this baby yellow!! But have been talked out of it for the moment. It is in great condition and just needs a little love with some liquid gold. Benjamin loves to play it. He is such a gentle kid and will sit and play each key so gently! It melts my heart. Then he hums and sings and just loves it. I had forgotten how much I love to play and sing! It is a treasure and I have high hopes of teaching my children how to play and pray my family will spend time singing around the piano like we did when we were younger!

Bryan bought these sport decals years ago...and he's not the type to put something like this on his car...but he loved them. So I decided for his birthday I would do something with them. I found these boards at Hobby Lobby, painted them black, put the decals on them, and hung them in our office/front room area. He loves them and it makes him happy. So it was a success!

When my sister Cathy came out to visit a few months ago, she printed out these signs for my kids. While we were at my mom's house we found some wood my dad wasn't using, painted them and put the lettering on it. I love that we did it together! I finally hung them in their rooms.

I couldn't find anything I loved to display Jamie's newborn pictures, so I just kinda made something up. I bought a rod, painted it black and found some ribbon I liked...made some strips, made some bows, and voila...hanging display.

I saw this saying long before I was ever pregnant with Benjamin and knew I wanted my kids growing up with it. At first I thought I would put it in his room...but I finally decided I would just put it over the mirror in the kids' bathroom. And I love how it turned out. Bryan totally thought I was crazy as we started this process...but he was impressed when we finished it! I LOVE IT!!!!!

So yeah! It's been busy and time consuming and now that I've started I feel like I have even more things I want to get done. But my pocket book (and my husband) are telling me to take a break! So it's back to cooking and playing with kiddos for me!!!
