I think I might have watched too much Project Runway (it's been a favorite of mine since college!) But I had this crazy idea that I should "remake" my wedding dress into a dress I could wear more often...at least wear again. I keep thinking I could make a beautiful navy blue or emerald green short dress out of my original wedding dress. So after thinking and talking about doing it for a while now, I started the process! Wish me luck!!!
Before I started the process I put on my wedding dress for one final time. I love this dress so much!! That's the whole reason I want to make it into a dress I'll wear more often. The idea of my favorite dress sitting in my closet never to be worn again makes me sad. And the idea of wearing it to church or dinner or on a cruise makes me smile!! So I twirled in my favorite dress, took a few pictures and started the process of...
cutting and seam-ripping it apart! Such a weird moment to sit down and literally start hacking away at your wedding dress.
And this is the material after I'm done. I didn't completely disassemple the top part of the dress...there isn't a lot of material up on top and I'm thinking about putting it in my wedding scrapbook and saving it. But the rest of the material (including the lace) is going to be dyed some fabulous color! Stay tuned to see more!!!
That is such a great idea - I can't wait to see how it turns out! I totally miss watching project runway at midnight every week with you!
